It's a challenge for the Australian squad to break new ground.

The greatest achievements have been successfully scaled.

This is the team that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to another six T20 titles, and once went nearly four years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, targeted by the peak baggers, are what's still available for a squad that has achieved everything.

That it took until Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to complete their first ODI chase above 300, regaining their record for the largest in the female 50-over format, is, honestly, a testament to the pitchers that have represented Australia over the past 50 years.

It's challenging for their batters to possess a record if not provided the opportunity.

Finally, the result of Australia giving up 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy getting an opportunity to create her latest masterpiece.

Then best known as the teenage relative of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after Australia couldn't capture either of the T20 or ODI World Cups conducted earlier and has witnessed all through 15 successful years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup happened three months after her debut and seven world titles have followed from 10 tries across formats.

That loss "drove us to reevaluate our levels," Healy stated recently.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the final and was named player of the tournament. She ensured her country would not fail again.

The question of whether this newest brilliant performance exceeded that prior achievement is debatable.

Some will argue the argument supporting final game tension. Others can counter with the test that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's definite is this hundred was much more difficult to predict.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 occurred when she led the batting statistics, but this innings was preceded by six games in India since the start of last month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've been watching me in training, it was a disappointing period because it appeared my form was missing completely," said Healy.

"But once you step out on the field, your competitive nature take over and you simply focus on the match."

Healy's competitive nature has continuously been her great strength - and an invaluable trait in succeeding iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, fallen to the young fast bowler in every game, but this time it merely gave Healy's inspiration.

A single was taken off the opening delivery and after that the batsman was on her way.

"An opportunity to play and lock in a contest with her and simply enjoy myself in that aspect, somewhat inspired me," commented Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 pitches - her fastest at a World Cup - and her century in 84 deliveries while she punished short deliveries, striking 21 boundaries and three sixes.

By the time she was dismissed her side needed 66 additional runs at a run-a-ball - an unconquered height now needing a comfortable finish.

"To chase 330 is uncharted waters so I'm happy we have the confidence to accomplish that now," added Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to repeat it but, if necessary, we believe we can do it."

That comment will be the final thing Australia's opponents at this World Cup want to hear.

In recent days a belief they will win from any position has grown stronger - this triumph following victory over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite being 76-7 at one stage.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a match against traditional opponents England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final berth may well be secure.

During that phase they were eliminated from the previous year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - an encounter Healy couldn't play because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she led her country for the inaugural occasion at a major tournament.

Such is her determination, she subsequently stated she regretted not playing through the pain.

However although she afterwards confessed those injuries have postponed plans to retire, this World Cup is likely to be her final tournament as skipper in ODI cricket and she is still to achieve a global event as captain.
