Lando Norris edged out fellow driver and title rival Oscar Piastri for the fastest time in the final moments of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.

The British racer, who took the championship lead from his teammate by a single point after winning in the Mexican Grand Prix recently, topped the Australian by 0.023 seconds.

Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair throughout the hour before sprint qualifying scheduled for 6:30 PM GMT.

The Red Bull star, the only other driver in the points battle, trailing 36 points Norris, was classified in 17th place as his Red Bull team ran a unique setup.

Verstappen's team-mate Yuki Tsunoda was the sole competitor to have an incident, albeit lightly, when he lost control at the fourth corner early in the session.

Tsunoda spun out over the curbs on exit before spinning across the run-off area, and was blessed to get away with just a slight brush of the barrier.

Ferrari's the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the conclusion of the session, turning around through the high-speed Mergulho corner approaching the final bend on to the start-finish straight.

The seven-time champion finished practice in 19th place, one place behind team-mate the Monegasque driver.

The McLaren pair were well clear of the remaining drivers, with Nico Hulkenberg's car in third, over half a second behind the Australian's time.

Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was fourth fastest, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto fifth from the Mercedes of Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
